Please join us for our last spirit night of the school year! You already know you're way too busy to cook the last week of school, and it's gonna be like 90 million degrees out, so go grab dinner and a celebratory shake!

The final booster meeting of the year also serves as our annual general membership meeting - this is where we review our activities of the year and start making plans for next school year. If you're an "I'll join boosters but I don't want to attend EVERY month" kinda person, this would be the one to attend!
We are also still actively recruiting board members for the upcoming school year, so 5th, 6th and 7th grade parents especially, we hope to see some of you tomorrow!

Welcoming all Covington Strings families, future Colts, and community members to our free spring concerts this week! Join us Tuesday 5/6 for guitar and Thursday 5/8 for orchestra - 6:30 p.m. both nights.
-Elementary students, mention this ad for a free popcorn or cotton candy!
-Bring your cash for dollar war and candy bouquet raffles! Concessions and merch available cash/Venmo.

Seeking volunteers to help with the guitar and orchestra final concerts on May 6th and 8th! There are opportunities to help with supply donations, pre-concert support, and concession sales during the concerts (pro tip: lots of guitar parents sign up to help on orchestra night, and vice versa, so everyone gets a chance to see their own kid perform!) We also welcome student and alum volunteers if your teen would like to help on a night they're not performing. Scan the QR code for more info and to sign up.

Colts & friends, please join us Wednesday, April 30, from 6-8 pm at the Kendra Scott store on South Congress for an evening of drinks, shopping, and student performances. 20% of proceeds benefit the Covington Strings program so this is a great time to get a head start on Mother's Day and graduation shopping. (Maybe your eighth grader needs a special commencement gift!) Can't join us in store? The code on the flyer is good all day Wed 4/30 and Thurs 5/1.

Our spring concerts are right around the corner - guitar on May 6 and orchestra on May 8. One of the ways we keep our concerts 100% free to attend is through generous community support in the form of spotlight and business ads in our programs.
Spotlight ads are a chance for families to celebrate their students with photos and words of support. They're great anytime and are especially popular with 8th grade families as a way to commemorate the end of their middle school strings journey.
And if you own (or frequent!) a small business, our business ads are the perfect way to let your local community know that your business is a proud supporter of public school fine arts education. (We have other business partnership opportunities available too, including banner space, so let's talk!)
Scan the QR codes above to purchase your spotlight or business ad by April 25!

EDIT: Alright, CMS Strings community, the teens have spoken, and they want to see their own teacher as Princess Peach, so please read the REVISED Dollar War rules below!
When: Between April 14 and May 8 (this includes class days, the evening of the spring social, and the evenings of the spring concerts!)
How it works: Bring your cash! Every $1 bill you put in YOUR class jug counts TOWARDS your class. Every $5 (or $10 or $20 or even higher) bill you put in the OTHER class jug counts AGAINST them! (That's right, your $5 can cancel out five $1 bills!)
Contributions end after the orchestra final concert on May 8th. Results will be announced on Friday, May 9th. The winners will get an ice cream party, hosted by their teacher dressed as Princess Peach, during their orchestra or guitar class period on Monday or Tuesday, May 12th or 13th.

Join us for our spring family social next week at Nomadic Outpost! There will be live music, including student performers, food and drinks available for purchase, raffle items, and more! All ages are welcome so bring the whole family!

Please join us tomorrow for our monthly booster club meeting! This is a great time for 6th and 7th grade families (and 5th grade families excited for next year's guitar and orchestra journey!) to meet other strings families, hear important updates about our programs, and learn ways to get involved. Fresh air, friendly people, a range of food and beverage options: it might just be the highlight of your week!

A few action shots from Coltsfest last weekend! Thank you to everyone who came out to support Covington Strings by listening to the Pops Orchestra performance and visiting our ring toss booth.

Make sure to swing by Cupprimo South (4404 W. Wm Cannon) this Friday, April 4. The bakery is generously giving 10% back to Covington Strings all day, so stop in before work/school for a coffee and a pastry, or head over on your way home for a sweet treat to kick off your weekend! (Or both!)

Busy day today in Covington Strings Land! The Advanced Guitar program traveled to Texas State University in San Marcos to perform in the Hill Country Guitar Festival and Competition. Our guitar duet earned 2nd place in their category, and our trio, quartet, and large ensemble all earned 1st place! We are so proud of our students' hard work and dedication. (In between all that guitar playing we snuck in time for pizza and boba tea on campus and game time at the arcade on the way home!) Have a great rest of your 3-day weekend, Colts!

Tfw it's a made up holiday called Piano Day and the keyboard player's mom is the social media volunteer! Covington is one of very few schools locally that incorporate piano into their orchestra program, and it is one of many ways the Covington Fine Arts program is so special and such a unique opportunity! πΉ

We're gearing up for the second annual Coltsfest this weekend, and we can use your help! We are taking donations of chips/Takis (the kind that come in a tall can) as well as 20oz sodas for our ring toss booth. Also looking for a few volunteers to help run the booth. Sign-up link is in our bio, or you can click it here if you're seeing this on FB: https://m.signupgenius.com/#!/showSignUp/10C0F4EABAE28A2FFC52-55886888-colts

Join us next Tuesday after spring break for Taco Tuesday at the Arbor Trails Torchy's on William Cannon. Remember to show this flyer (or just mention Covington Strings!) and they'll donate 15% of your purchase to the guitar and orchestra programs.

Join us this Wednesday for booster club! All orchestra and guitar families are welcome, as well as any community members interested in supporting our program. Nomadic has both 21+ and fun-for-all beverages, and Slab BBQ is onsite with dinner options, and there's a gorgeous outdoor space with a playground, so feel free to bring your Colts and Future Colts with you. Hope to see you there!

It's that time again! You know what to do - grab a burger, grab some fries, grab a shake, grab a baker's dozen cookies...it's for the kids! P Terry's on William Cannon is graciously donating 10% of all sales on Tuesday evening, March 4, from 4-10 p.m., to Covington Strings. That means your quick trip through the drive thru directly helps our strings kids fund lessons, supplies, activities, and travel! π₯€πππͺπΈπ»πΆ

Happy National Guitar Day to our fabulous classical guitar students and their amazing director Mr. Hernandez! Students from the guitar program represent Covington at community events, both at school and beyond. These photos are from the recent Passport to Culture event here at school. We're looking forward to a fun and busy spring semester with lots more opportunities for this talented crew πΈ

Our February Booster Meeting will be a week from today, February 12, at 6:00pm. We’ll host the meeting at Mandola’s Italian Kitchen in Arbor Trails.
We’re excited to share more about our Booster Board, answer your questions, and welcome some new faces! Most of our current Board members are 8th grade parents, so it’s time to pass the baton. This is a great chance to see how you can make a difference and get involved in supporting your amazing guitar and orchestra students.
The plan: 30 minutes of social time to mingle and chat, followed by the February Booster meeting.
Can’t make it early? Stick around after the meeting to connect!
Not a Booster member yet? No problem! This gathering is open to everyone—parents, guardians, and anyone interested in supporting our program.
